River Of Dreams

Photos by Vittoria Grasso

"In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
From the mountains of faith
To the river so deep
I must be lookin' for something
Something sacred I lost
But the river is wide
And it's too hard to cross

Even though I know the river is wide
I walk down every evening and stand on the shore
I try to cross to the opposite side
So I can finally find what I've been looking for
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the valley of fear
To a river so deep

I've been searching for something
Taken out of my soul
Something I'd never lose
Something somebody stole
I don't know why I go walking at night
But now I'm tired and I don't want to walk anymore
I hope it doesn't take the rest of my life
Until I find what it is I've been looking for

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the jungle of doubt
To the river so deep
I know I'm searching for something
Something so undefined
That it can only be seen
By the eyes of the blind
In the middle of the night

I’m not sure about a life after this
God knows I've never been a spiritual man
Baptized by the fire, I wade into the river
That is runnin' through the promised land"

I know you must be tired by now of me posting pictures from New York and the UN. But I insist: it was an amazing week, full of beautiful moments and incredible people! However (and I bet some of you must be thankful for this), this is the last post I'll be writing about my time in NY for now. It just happens that I found these pictures in my camera and I realised I never uploaded them so I thought now could be a good moment!

Please stay tuned for my new spring outfits I'll be wearing these days (if the weather stays as beautiful as it has been today!)

--- --- ---

New York State Of Mind

"Some folks like to get away,
Take a holiday from the neighborhood
Hop a flight to Miami Beach or to Hollywood
But I'm takin' a Greyhound on the Hudson River line
I'm in a New York state of mind
I've seen all the movie stars in their fancy cars and their limousines
Been high in the Rockies under the evergreens
I know what I'm needin', and I don't want to waste more time
I'm in a New York state of mind.

It was so easy livin' day by day
Out of touch with the rhythm and blues
But now I need a little give and take
The New York Times, the Daily News

It comes down to reality, and its fine with me cause I've let it slide
I don't care if it's Chinatown or on Riverside
 I don't have any reasons
 I left them all behind
I'm in a New York state of mind

I'm just taking a Greyhound on the Hudson River line
Cause I'm in a New York state of mind"

~Billy Joel

NEW YORK. You probably know it by now, but it's by far my favourite city in the world. I just can't get enough of it! And this past week that I was MIA, it was because I was in NY having the time of my life. Unfortunately, this time was spent working and being sleep-deprived, which means I had little to no time to take pictures, except for some occasional ones... So this post is more like a little photo bucket of my travel experience, rather than an actual outfit post.

If anybody is wondering what I was doing in New York, I will explain it to you in a simple way: I was having great time with the most amazing people I've ever met! When it was time for me to come back, I really didn't want to... But then I realised that all the memories I had collected during the week are the most precious treasures I have, and that's why I will never ever forget this experience. I love my people and I loved what we all achieved together during the past week (and this whole year, actually) in NY! And nobody will ever take that away from me :)

And there is always an excuse to go back to NY, right?!

--- --- ---

NUEVA YORK.

Heroes

Photos by Paola Silva

"I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins
Like dolphins can swim

Though nothing, nothing will keep us together
We can beat them, forever and ever
Oh, we can be heroes just for one day

I, I will be King
And you, you will be Queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can be heroes just for one day
We can be us just for one day

I, I can remember
Standing by the wall
And the guns, shot above our heads
And we kissed, as though nothing could fall

And the shame, was on the other side
Oh, we can beat them, forever and ever
Then we could be heroes just for one day

We can be heroes
We can be heroes
We can be heroes just for one day
We can be heroes"

~David Bowie

Have you ever wanted to be a hero and change the world? I know it sounds like a crazy dream you have when you're a kid but, believe it or not, that is still my strongest dream! I wish I could really do something that will change the lives of thousands of people that are less fortunate than I am, to help them get at least some of the opportunities I've been given in life!

And that was what my weekend was all about. I went with a group of friends (read: Pao, Dani, Nico and Gaby) to this amazing social entrepreneurship competition in Boston. We hadn't stopped working on a business plan for an enterprise that would help us achieve food security in the next five years for over a month, and the weekend was the most intense ending ever! But it was GREAT! We didn't win, but the ideas presented were absolutely amazing. Harvard had an excellent solution, although McGill (the winner team) definitely came out with the most creative idea! Wow, I honestly hope they can implement their plan successfully!

As for us... We're probably going back to Colombia and try to find some seed capital to start our plan at least in Latin America. So, if any of you readers out there happens to be an investor (or know one!), just email me and we'll share the plan with you!

For now, I have to go back to work, since I'm back in NYC for one of the most incredible (and intense) weeks in my year!!! Good luck, everyone! I'll post again as soon as I can!!!

--- --- ---

¡Volveré a escribir apenas pueda!

Here We Go Again

 Photos by Paola Silva

"Here we go again
She's back in town again
I'll take her back again
One more time

Here we go again
The phone will ring again
I'll be her fool again
one more time

I've been there before
And I'll try it again
But any fool knows
That there's no way to win
Here we go again
She'll break my heart again
I'll play the part again
One more time

I'll take her back again
one more time"

~Ray Charles

I'm back in Boston (once more) to participate in a social business enterprise competition (once more!) with my friends.

The general topic is eradicating food insecurity in urban slums and we've been working as hard as ever in order to come up with a good (and plausible!) solution. We traveled for around 10 hours and then we went for a quick lunch near Harvard Square... And then we continued working, working, working! But I'm sure this will be an amazing learning experience and I can't wait for tomorrow!

But, for now, I'll go to bed, while you enjoy these pictures of my first day (out of ten) abroad! Sweet dreams, xxx!

 --- --- ---
